Didn't this happen in England like 20 years ago with a set of male twins. The story should read parents give birth to light skinned black daughter and dark skinned black daughter. Is this really news.

My daughters look just like this, one can pass and the other brown. It is amazing how I have to explain this to folks all the time. It really gets on my nerves. Black folk never know what thier children will look like, given our history.
The incident in England that you are refering to involved a test tube. The tube was not cleaned good when they used it on the white couple. This particular incident was natural.

There are twins in the Netherlands like this (boys). They were featured on the discovery channel or something (can't remember).
I agree with earlier posts. I thought the same thing. They are both black kids - one light skinned and one dark skinned. It is funny and unusual and I feel bad that the parents will have to do much explaining for may years to come. One would wish that it was no big surprise.
i thought that case that happened in england was a white woman who slept with a white guy and a black guy and their sperm fertilized the same egg which split and one twin had the black guys sperm and he other had the white guys. i have to admit the first thing i thought when i read this is that girlfriend had some BBC on the side.

i think that they are very cute .they look just alike and the parents must be vary happy to have the girls in there lives .well im only 16 right now and i dont plan to have any kids now but when i trun about 26,27 i do wish to have twins i wish i had a chance of that but twins dont run in my family .i still say everyday that im going to have twin girls someday i wish i could really meet the grils but i just wanted to say the parents are vary lucky to have them.

Why are you all calling them light skinned black and dark skinned black? They have at least same amt of white blood as black blood. They probably have more white than black blood. To call the black is as to buy into the racist american "1 drop rule" stereotype created by white racists.
The use of the word "pass" to talk about your kids or this twin looking white suggests that you (those who use it) are still enslaved by the past. It suggests something positive, like this is a good thing. Free your mind!
for the person who said the women had 2 sperm fertilizing one egg that is an impossible occurence. Had it been the case both babies would not be here for you to talk about because when the fetilize egg splits the embryo will spontaneously abort themselves due to too many chromosomes missing even if the sperms comes from the same person. plus the kids are not identical if the were there would be no news. But fraternal twins can have differnt fathers because two eggs has to fertilize two eggs (one for each)same thing when the fraternal twins have the same father. So that woman just happenned to have the black guy fertilizing one egg and the white guy the other. This is why the girls look the way they do. You will never hear news of identical twins with one white and the other black, plus identical twins are the result of one sperm fertilizing one egg that splits in two.
I recommend that people read the book BLACK IN MY FAMILY. Its about the story of Thomas Jefferson. He was the first white man in history, as i know it, to marry a black woman. After his white wife, if you will, died, he married his mistress, who was also his slave. His daughter (from his white wife), was ok with this. He and his black wife had FOUR kids together. When these kids grew up, they married white people, however, they never told the families that the were MULATTOS. This is to show, that blacks come in MANY MANY MANY different colours. My son, looks just like the twin on the left in the picture. He doesnt have blond hair, however, he does resemble a certain Austrian Jew (the one who shaped racism today), when i comb his hair a certain way. All that matters is that we love our children, no matter how they come out.
You people are sorely mistaken... for one the "lighter" girl has blue eyes and blonde hair... even naturally there is no black person who is born with such distinctly "white" features. Yes there can be heteropaternal superfecundation but there are more than one cases where that is not what happened. Accept that this phenomenon is possible and quit analyzing the "historical and racial" aspects of it. Its a beautiful thing and these are wonderful babies. Don't demean their existence. That's rude.

Both children are biracial. Their parents are biracial, therefore they are biracial. People see all different shades of color in all "races." To deny the darker shaded child that she was not biracial would to deny a part of her, and her parents. When it comes down to it, all humans genetically are 99.9% the same. And physically NO individual, even identical twins, no matter how much they look a like are the same. So there is either one race, which is really a term used to categories individuals to create a hierarchy, or millions of races. Why are people trying to identify these babies. They are beautiful. Oh and mulatto is a cross between a mule and a horse, so think about terms before using them. Think about it.

Children are Gods gift to the world, know matter what he or she looks like just is long as they came in to the world healthy and alive. Color shouldn't make a difference. Everyone is just looking on the outside. My family is the same way when it came to my brother. We aren't twins but we did come for the same mother. Yes! one is darker then the other but should it matter???
if you read the art.s about them you would know that both their parnets are mixed and when they were born they both had the same color eyes and looked alot alike and as they got older one got darker and the other got lighter ... this is very rare but it shows that we need to live in a more color blind world and people need to stop judgin each other based on their skin ... i am mixed myself n when i tell people that they are always surpised because i look more "black" than i do "white"... YOu should consider the fact that culture itself is relative, in fact what you may consider to be the "real" french are actually of mixed cultures themselves. Culture: is a shared, learned, symbolic system of values, beliefs and attitudes that shapes and influences perception and behavior. Race is a category of humankind that shares certain distinctive physical traits. Thats why we speak of the male race, the human race, in fact Leach, i mean Leche you could marry another white person and still be marrying outside your race because by strict definition the white race is made up of different races and you could easily be marrying outside your culture. Why not drop the silly pretense of being worried about culture. Your argument is pathetic and invalid, you'd do much better to be honest and just admit that you are a racist twit who has nothing better to do that lurk around attempting to pull other people down to try to gain some sense of self worth. This is slightly offensive! I am biracial myself, white mom, black dad. What is up with this passing!?! The white baby is white because it is white. duh. The only thing separating the white race from the black race is skin color. If you have the genetic code to produce very little melanin you are a white person; this child has the genetics of a white person (from their white grandparents) and therefore is a white person. Growing up mixed you realize that the races are not far from each other genetically, we just perceive vast differences due to cultural variation.
Seriously, this isnt about what you are or arent. They arent your children so qiut trying to analyze them. By the way whoever said bi-racial people are white you contridicted yourself. You arent white your bi-racial deal with it.
These girls are beautiful! just came across this-not sure how new this is... Only negative I can think of in this situation are sibling rivalries....I was mean to my little sister when we argued because she was a little chunkier than me. Now, if she was a little darker or lighter than me...whole new ball game! I'm going to have a mixed baby...anxious to see his/her beautiful complexion and eyes (we've both got light eyes)...but as long as he/she is healthy, has 10 fingers and 10 toes I won't be able to ask for much more.
It would be amazing if more people were colorblind, as someone mentioned above....sad to say, even my own parents.

Oh, who cares if they're different colors? They're still beautiful twin girls who will probably love each other and be best buds forever. I'm sure they couldn't care less that they are different colors just because of that bond. I think they're adorable, and their parents shouldn't be worried about what anyone thinks. It is interesting though.
